Malcolm Smith developed these projectors during an Asialink arts management residency in Indonesia. His aim was to build a low cost video projector that would aid in the development and promotion of screen based visual art. ‘Burning House’ was first exhibited as part of the 2005 Yogyakarta Biennale. The theme of the Biennale was ‘Di sini dan Kini’ (Consciousness of the Here and Now). This work was created in response to the many natural and man-made disasters that characterised 2005. (This work will be open every night of the Screening program).
